Simin Tander, born 1980 in Cologne, is a jazz singer and composer. Her vocal style combines influences from such sources as Western jazz with its Oriental heritage by singing in Afghaani/Pashtu, the language of her deceased father. International appearances including at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Madrid Jazz Festival and OCT LOFT Festival (China). Since 2014 she has been collaborating with Tord Gustavsen (piano) and Jarle Vespestad (drums). Awards for her artistic work include the 2016 Annual German Critics Award.
