Bernadette La Hengst, Germany

(c) Christiane Stephan_kl

Bernadette La Hengst, born 1967 in Bad Salzuflen, lives and works in Berlin as a musician and theatre producer with a preference for social and political subjects and utopian ideas. Since 2004 she has produced countless participative theatre projects and audio plays demonstrating that Poetic Education is perhaps the most effective form of Poetic Activism. For instance, she developed in 2015 the theatre project Mehrheitsgesellschaft with ten senior citizens over 65 and 10 young refugees from various countries for the Theater Freiburg, performed the official opening song with 200 children and young people at the World Climate Conference in Bonn in 2017 and, in Modellfall Weißwasser (Model Case Whitewater), staged a performative urban obstacle course on the topics of rural depopulation and structural change.
