Jan Wagner

Jan Wagner, born 1971 in Hamburg, has lived in Berlin since 1995. He is a poet, translator of English-language poetry and an essayist and until 2003 was co-editor of the international literature forum in box format with loose leaf pages Die Aussenseite des Elementes (The Outer Side of the Element). His first collection of poems Probebohrung im Himmel was published in 2001. His most recent book from Hanser Berlin Verlag is Die Live Butterfly Show (2018). Jointly with Federico Italiano he recently published the exhaustive anthology of contemporary European poetry Grand Tour. Reisen durch die junge Lyrik Europas (Hanser 2019). For his poems he has received such prizes and awards as the Prize of the Leipzig Book Fair (2015) and the Georg Büchner Prize (2017). Jan Wagner is a member of the German Academy of Language and Poetry and German PEN.
