Lea Schneider, born 1989 in Cologne, lives and works as a freelance author, translator and critic in Berlin following lengthy periods living in China and Taiwan. Her literary work is situated between poetry, essays and translation, but most of all she likes to mix all three forms into something new. Together with the G13 collective she develops poem performances and collective writing formats. Her work centres on the attempt to dismantle racist, colonial clichés about China by painting a more complex picture of the country and developing a respectful language for this endeavour. Her most recent publications from the Verlagshaus Berlin press are Chinabox. Neue Lyrik aus der Volksrepublik (2016) and made in china (2020).
