Manal Al-Sheikh is a poet from Niniveh in northern Iraq. She has a degree in English-Arabic translation from the University of Mosul and has worked as a freelance journalist. Her literary texts have been published in various Iraqi, Arabic and European journals and magazines as well as in anthologies of modern Iraqi poetry. Manal Al-Sheikh’s poems have been translated into several languages including Norwegian, English, Italian, Catalan and French. From 2009 to 2011 she was a guest writer of Stavanger City of Refuge.
