Yanko González Cangas, born in 1971 in Santiago de Chile, is one of the best-known poets of his generation in the Spanish-speaking world but has yet to be discovered by German or English-speaking readers. Following his debut, Metales Pesados (1998), he published two more conceptually conceived books of poems and has edited numerous anthologies. His collected poetry and translations appeared in 2019. González is Professor for Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Austral de Chile Universität in Valdivia.
